Cross Linker

Crosslinkers are chemicals that react with polymers to improve the physical and chemical properties of a coating. VOC-free crosslinkers can be used in the coating system to improve chemical resistance significantly. A much denser network, which helps to modify or improve the following properties:

• Increased strength and hardness
• Improved abrasion resistance
• Improved chemical resistance
• Improved hydrolysis resistance
• Increased adhesion to substrates

There are two major mechanisms by which crosslinkers can react:

• reacting with a polymer
• reacting with itselves forming a so-called interpenetrating network with the polymeric binder

Kimya Exir ARISA crosslinker range offers water-based and solvent-based systems based on four different chemistries:

• Isocyanate
• Carbodiimide
• Melamine resins
• Aziridine

carbodiimide crosslinkers are an excellent alternative for more hazardous isocyanate and aziridine crosslinkers.  To further build on the success of o polycarbodiimide crosslinkers, we recently represented  VOC-free new crosslinker versions with extreme long pot-life.
